Group brainstorm

Today 3 of us from our peer group got together to help each other brainstorm ideas for our “mini briefs,” we each spent 2 minutes on a brief and then discussed ideas we came up with. It was actually a really good task and helped a lot to get a fresh perspective on our topics. We are planning on having another session doing this on either Monday or Tuesday.

Focus group

I bought my toys and spray paint for my focus group today. I have decided to change my plan to just look into gender stereotypical toys and whether it’s the form of the toy or the outside appearance which influences the child.

I have bought 2 stereotypical masculine toys which will stay looking masculine, 2 stereotypical feminine toys which will stay looking feminine, 2 stereotypical masculine toys which I will be spraying pink to change them to look more feminine and 2 stereotypical feminine toys which I will be spraying blue to look more masculine. All these should arrive by next Wednesday ready for me to take home to my old school.

The same technique is going to be used with flash cards, happy, neutral and sad to reflect if the child likes the toy and then boy, girl or both to reflect what gender they would think it’s for.
